The most modern strip tillage research centre opens in Poland

27.01.2020

On Thursday, January 16, 2020, the Research and Development Centre Agro Resources, Technique and Technology was opened in Śmielin, Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodship. Its mission is to comprehensive expanding of knowledge on strip tillage. The Research and Development Centre in Śmielin was created and is managed by the company Agro-Land Marek Różniak.

The investment was founded with a support from the Ministry of Regional Development using European Union funds under the Operational Programme Smart Growth.

In the times of natural catastrophes and global warming, the global agriculture faces a great challenge – how to maintain food production of high capacity and quality with the decreasing water supply and deteriorating soils? The answer lies in strip tillage, reducing a number of drives through the field to one, during which all agrotechnical activities associated with soil cultivation, pre-sowing fertilisation and sowing are performed. It is based on deep soil working of the soil in narrow strips, covering no more than 1/3 of the field surface in total, with over 50% of plant residues remaining in the field. This type of tillage combines advantageous elements of traditional tillage with the no-tillage system. The Research and Development Centre Agro Resources, Technique and Technology will be one of the most modern centres of this type in the world, specialising in comprehensive studies and development of this technology.

The mission of our group is to implement into agriculture technologies based on solid scientific foundations, resulting from regular research and development works conducted by the world class scientists and practitioners. In three years we intend to create solutions that will revolutionise the agriculture and help to reduce energy expenditures and CO2 emissions to the atmosphere, as well as minimise a negative human environmental impact.   During our work we take into account current soil and climate conditions’ says Marek Różniak, the creator of the Research and Development Centre.

In the laboratories of the Research and Development Centre a team of experts will conduct research in three areas: strip-tillage technology, foliar application treatments, and improvement of soil fertility. The developed innovations will be implemented into Mzuri seed drills dedicated to strip tillage, and products under the Agrami brand, including microelement fertilisers, water conditioners and microgranulates.

Detailed areas of research and development works planned in the Polish centre cover development, improvement, validation, and preparing for implementation and commercialisation of innovative products for agricultural production, farming techniques, and plant cultivation technologies. In the first area of research, the experts will work on improving the one pass technology, and expand the range of cultivated plant species and elements of their technology and agrotechnical activities. The second area will focus on research on foliar application treatments, including improvement in yield capacity and quality by developing new and improving existing high quality formulations changing properties of water for agrochemical treatments, foliar fertilisers, and biostimulators. In the third, last area of research works, the experts will develop compositions and formulations for fertiliser microgranulates for cultivation of cultivated plants and vegetables, and determine the effects of their use in plant agrotechnique.

Already the solutions created in Śmielin – especially Mzuri seed drills – can be found on 4 continents. The Centre’s ambition is to implement into the global market the most modern solutions, combining the highest efficiency of the agricultural production with environmental approach, especially in difficult weather conditions.
