13.09.2024

On Wednesday, September 10, the world’s largest competition for young professionals started in Lyon. During the 4 days of the competition, nearly 1,400 competitors representing 70 countries will compete in 59 scored and 3 demonstration competitions. The Polish Chamber of Commerce for Agricultural Machines and Equipment is responsible for the performance and preparation of the Polish representative in the “agricultural and construction machinery mechanics” competition.

In the Heavy Vehicle Technology competition, Poland is represented by Jakub Netter, this year’s graduate of the General D. Chłapowski RCKU School Complex in Trzcianka. The Polish expert in this competition is Dr. Mirosław Czechlowski, who is an employee of the University of Life Sciences in Poznań. Jakub won last year’s Young Mechanic for a Medal competition organized by the Polish Chamber of Commerce of Agricultural Machines and Facilities, which was the elimination round for the WorldSkills competition.

During the competition, Jakub will compete with 15 competitors representing countries from Canada and the USA through Brazil, all of Europe, to South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia and China. In the Heavy Vehicle Technology competition, they have to complete 6 tasks covering diesel engine systems, power transmission, electrical and hydraulic systems, to steering, braking and suspension systems.

The Polish team at WorldSkills Lyon 2024 consists of 15 competitors who compete in 11 different competitions such as: electrical installations, sanitary and heating installations, cloud computing, cybersecurity, CNC milling, industry 4.0, integration of industrial robots, welding, cooking, hotel guest service and the previously mentioned mechanics of agricultural and construction vehicles.

The Polish Chamber of Commerce of Agricultural Machines and Facilities has been involved in the EuroSkills and WorldSkills competitions for several years now, cooperating with the Foundation for the Development of the Education System. Competitions organized by the Chamber – Young Mechanic with a Medal and Student with a Medal are eliminations for international competitions. Competitors representing our country in international competitions are under the “care” of the Chamber, which prepares them for competition by organizing training and workshops throughout the year. The efforts bring results. Last year, Rafał Piechaczek won 3rd place at EuroSkills, which took place in Gdańsk.
