Starting up the new 2,400 m2 hall designated to construct prototypes and research facilities and 600 m² of office space with electronics laboratories and social rooms, the Hasbergen-Gaste research and test area has clearly expanded. The new test centre together with the Technology Centre opened in 2014, located only several metres away, which houses engineering offices, creates a very strong unit: it gives us completely new opportunities to increase effectively our research and development intensity” Rainer Resch explains. In recent years, Amazone company employed as many as 18 new employees only in this department.
The employees of the new centre are committed to the assembling, commissioning and testing of functional models and prototypes, including fertilizing, plant protection techniques, along with DMC seed drills, plows and electronics. The electronics development department, together with its own office premises, has a variety of laboratories, measuring technology workshops, and a secured zone of electronics components testing area. In modern agriculture, first of all, the software sector at 4.0 level plays an enormous role, marked by increasing digitization and documentation requirements. “The technical equipment is the state-of-the-art, well provided for the comprehensive testing requirements of the Amazone company,” said Volker Ehlen, the Head of the Engineering Department at Hasbergen-Gaste. The exceptional elements include a stand for testing 60 m wide beams of field sprayers and a separate foundation with a 60 tonnes floor plate for long-term load testing of very large agricultural machines. An integrated water supply system provided with a 16,000 litres capacity tank, underground filling lines with take-in metering points and a drainage pipe and suction duct for vacuum testing are provided for testing sprayers. Modern LED lighting with light control ensures high energy efficiency.
“The test centre shows that the investment continues in Hasbergen-Gaste,” explained the heads of Amazon company, Christian Dreyer and Dr Justus Dreyer at the opening ceremony of the newest facilities in the Amazon group. All other plants shall be developed and expanded at the same time.
